What are the common noises and faults of brake pads?

1. High-frequency squealing

High-frequency sounds sound sharp. When the brake disc and brake pad vibrate at the same frequency, they resonate and produce squealing sounds.

Check the caliper: whether the guide rail is lubricated and smooth, and whether the piston oil seal is damaged.

Check whether all anti-noise clips fit the brake pads and are installed correctly.

Check whether the brake pads are too smooth and whether they are overused.

2. Low-frequency howling

Generally known as caliper noise, it is caused by the vibration of the caliper assembly and may also be caused by the vibration of the suspension system

New car calipers or suspension systems have slight vibration sensitivity in the early morning, such as in winter mornings, which is especially common

Check the calipers, suspension system and bushings

3. Dull sound

Generally occurs when the pedal is loose, which can easily cause the steering wheel to shake. New models are prone to this problem

Caused by the difference in brake disc thickness. Maintain the ball cage connector and check the wear of the brake pads.

4. Causes of abnormalities after brake disc wear

The surface of the brake disc is dirty; the density of the brake disc material is uneven; the working temperature is too high; the installation torque of the brake disc does not match

Check

Before replacing the brake pads, check the brake disc

Check the thickness of the brake disc with a caliper

Reinstall the bolts that secure the brake disc

Measure the flatness of the working surface of the brake disc
